Atfalati, officially the Republic of Atfalati, is a country in North Yeongju, in the Thunderbird Bay region on the X Sea. It borders Yudeok to the west, Hachuabsh to the east, and Tlakwaan to the north.

Etymology[edit]

The name 澾田 was first appears in a Gitsanese document in 1422, following contact with people in Thunderbird Bay who spoke Wawa, in which the country is known as Twálat'i. This is turn likely derived from Alakmayuk speakers, who called the country Antwálat'i.

History[edit]

Ancient history[edit]

From the 10th century until 1126, Atfalati was under the control of P'udilabš. The 1126 Thunderbird Bay Earthquake led to the collapse of P'udilabš authority in the area. While Atfalatian settlements were devastated, their location relatively inland meant that they did not face the level of complete destruction that coastal communities on the bay faced. P'udilabš settlement into the region was stopped and existing settlers and their descendants were assimilated into the majority Atfalatian population.
